YN DEBYG IAWN I TI A FI (English press release)

Following a succesful launch event in Carmarthen on the 5th of March, Theatr Genedlaethol Cymru, the new Welsh-language national touring theatre company, has announced tour dates for its first production, Meic Povey’s Yn Debyg Iawn i Ti a Fi.

The piece, with Bryn Fon, Siw Hughes, Gwenno Hodgkins and Glyn Pritchard in the cast, is described by the company as a “gritty play presented in a very theatrical style”.

It tours to the main theatre venues in Mold, Milford Haven, Aberystwyth, Swansea, Bangor and Cardiff between April 23rd and May 29th.

“To kick off our first season with such a powerful play, and with such a strong and well known cast, is very exciting for us“ according to Cefin Roberts, the play’s director.

The company has also confirmed the names of their first ensemble of ‘core actors’.

Owain Arwyn, Rhian Blythe, Carys Eleri Evans and Dave Taylor will appear in some of the company’s productions and will also undertake education and outreach work, including sessions for Welsh learners during the Yn Debyg Iawn i Ti a fi tour.

The company’s website, www.theatr.com, is now up and running, and will be updated on a regular basis.

For further information, contact Elwyn Williams, Marketing Manager, on 01554 780650.
