synopsis:
‘Lysh’ gan Aled Jones Williams yw drama gomisiwn yr Eisteddfod Genedlaethol 2004 sy’n cael ei chyflwyno gan gwmni Theatr Bara Caws.  Yn dilyn’Sundance’ a ‘Beth Oedd Enw Ci Tin Tin?’ mae ‘Lysh’ yn parhau y berthynas arbennig sydd gan y
dramodydd unigryw yma â’r cwmni.

Unwaith eto mae Aled wedi ysgrifennu drama sy’n edrych yn ddisyfyd i friw agored y ddynoliaeth.  Alcohol yw’r gwenwyn melys sy’n cynnal a chaethiwo’r pedwar cymeriad, a datgymaliad o’u perthynas gymhleth a chreulon gyda’r gwenwyn hwnnw yw craidd y ddrama.  Yn seiliedig ar brofiadau’r awdur yn ymgiprys a’i gythreuliaid personol mae ‘Lysh’ yn daith eirwir, huawdl ac anodd drwy gysgodion sydd yn disgyn ar draws llwybr sawl un ohonom.  Fel yng ngwaith Aled i gyd mae’r ysfa am atebion cadarn mewn byd simsan yn cymeryd sawl ffurf, yn ‘Lysh’ daw’r dadrithiad nad yw’r ateb i’w gael yng ngwaelod potel, ond daw hefyd y gobaith a’r sicrwydd ei bod yn dal yn werth chwilio.

Cyfarwyddwr:  Valmai Jones  Actorion:  Betsan Llwyd, Maldwyn John, Rhodri Meilir + un actor arall i’w gastio

Perfformir y ddrama yn Eisteddfod Genedlaethol Casnewydd Awst 2-6 yn Theatr Dolman, Casnewydd

‘Lysh’ by Aled Jones Williams won 2004's National Eisteddfod drama commission for Theatr Bara Caws.  Following in the trail of ‘Sundance’ and ‘Beth Oedd Enw Ci Tin Tin?’ ‘Lysh’ maintains the special relationship linking this unique prize winning author with Wales’ foremost community theatre company.

Once again, Aled’s latest work stares unflinchingly into one of humanities open sores.

Alcohol is the sweet poison that props up and imprisons the play’s inmates, and it is their special relationship with that wet curse that forms the backbone of this play.  Based on the author’s own struggle with his demons ‘Lysh’ is an honest, often funny but harrowing journey through shadows that can so easily cross all our paths.  As in all Aled’s work the search for certainties in a shifting world can take many forms, in ‘Lysh’ Aled shows us that those certainties can’t be found in the bottom of a bottle, but he also shows us that the last thing we should do is stop searching.
