venue policy Clwyd Theatr Cymru was built as an Arts and Educational Technology Centre around 1976. Today, it is primarily a producing theatre. There are two theatres, plus a former TV Studio, a film theatre and a function room, all of which can be used for performance.

Clwyd Theatr Cymru is the home of the highly acclaimed Clwyd Theatr Cymru Company, Wales' leading English language theatre company, producing up to fifteen shows a year, many going on to tour throughout England and Wales. Theatregoers enjoy an extensive programme of modern and classical drama, from musicals to farce, Shakespeare to new plays. Its theatrical success alone makes Clwyd Theatr Cymru one of Britain's leading regional theatres but this lively centre for the arts has much more to offer. A wide variety of shows and concerts are presented by visiting companies and artists including dance, comedy, folk, jazz, classical music and opera. The Ken Dodd Laughter Show, The Royal Shakespeare Company, Rambert Dance, traditional Music Hall, 'alternative comedy, Welsh National Opera
