venue policy | In April 2007, Sgript Cymru and The Sherman Theatre joined forces to create Sherman Cymru, a new company that will be a vital force at the heart of theatre in Wales. Our aim is to produce and present ambitious, compelling theatre that inspires our audiences. We will lead initiatives that enable participants to engage with the creative process of theatre making, and seek to create a nurturing and stimulating environment for theatre practitioners. Central to our purpose are commitments to develop and champion the work of Welsh and Wales based writers, to foster the involvement of young people in the experience of theatre, and to actively encourage the development of emerging artists of the next generation. The creation of Sherman Cymru provides a powerful opportunity to make a lasting contribution to the national and international development of theatre in Wales, and to the vigour of theatre in its capital city. |
