The Muse & Music Society launched its first 'Between Ourselves' contest in 2000 which has been held biennially since then. 'Between Ourselves' is a competition for aspiring writers and performers who are invited to submit a monologue or duologue that they can either write or - a unique feature - both write and perform. Entries may relate to any subject and be presented in any style. All parts of the contest must be the entrant's own work and must not have been submitted for any other publication or award. There are two categories for the award and within each category there may be a monologue or duologue. Prizes of £200 (first), £100 (second) and £50 (third) will be available for both categories. Category 1: Writing a monologue or duologue between 1,500 and 2,250 words Category 2: Acting the monologue (by writer) or duologue (by writer plus one) - time from 15-20 minutes There is an entry fee of £5 per entry.
