Gest Performance Training

Gest is a new organisation based in Cardiff specialising in performance training for adults of all ages, abilities and experience. We aim to offer a wide variety of workshops and courses covering anything and everything relevant to shaping confident, believable and versatile performers. One-to-one acting tuition is also always available.

Acting Skills - 'Pick and Mix'
When: Mon 26th July – Fri 30th July 2004, 9.30pm – 4.30pm
Where: Chapter Arts Centre, Cardiff
Cost: £100 per person
Suitable for anyone over the age of 16 whatever your previous acting experience. If you have acted before, this course will be useful in keeping your performance skills topped up over the summer - or you have always harboured an interest in acting but don't know if it is for you, then this course will serve as a great introduction to a variety of different activities and skills. Sessions will include: movement and voice workshops, improvisation, sub-text, status and work with text and characterisation - all taught by qualified drama professionals.
Monologue and Audition Masterclass
When: Monday 16th August - Friday 20th August 2004, 9.30am - 4.30pm
Where: Chapter Arts Centre, Cardiff
Cost: £100 per person
Suitable for anyone over the age of 16 who plans to audition for a drama school in the near future or would like to have a monologue ready for any audition situation. You are asked to memorise a 2 - 3 minute long modern monologue (post 1880) and to bring a copy of the text with you. You will have the chance to work in groups as well as one to one on your speech, learn how to bring the text and your character off the page, find out more about applying to drama schools and what to expect, and of course maximise your chances of a successful audition! You will also get the chance to put your questions to a Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama graduate about drama training.

Gest is committed to providing consistent, high quality training that gives anyone who wants to improve their performance skills the best chance of doing so.
We aim to keep course costs as low as possible. For instance - our two week-long courses are only £100 each. That works out at £3.34 per hour. Enrol on both courses and the price drops to £2.84!
We also want to keep class sizes as low as possible - so make sure you book early!
