Gest Performance Training are running a new Acting Skills course - some places still available. When: Saturday 31st July and Sunday 1st August 2004, 9.30am – 4.30pm Where: Chapter Arts Centre, Cardiff Cost: £50 per person. This course is suitable for anyone over 16 whatever their level of ability and experience who wants to sharpen up their performance skills. Although in reality there’s no such thing as a ‘quick fix’ there are still a number of common mistakes and poor choices made by inexperienced actors, and through practical and fun exercises and workshops the course will identify some of these and how they can be rectified. The course will also provide some essential and useable tuition and tips to help you make more successful performances and get the best out of yourself. There will also be a chance to discuss and work on individuals' particular needs (ie: stage fright, voice projection, etc.). There's also a couple of places left on the Monologue and Audition Workshop: When: Mon 16th August – Fri 20th August 2004, 9.30am – 4.30pm Where: Chapter Arts Centre, Cardiff Cost: £100 per person Suitable for anyone over the age of 16 who plans to audition for a drama school in the near future or would just like to work on a piece of text or have a monologue ready for any audition situation. You are asked to memorise a 2 - 3 minute long modern monologue (post 1880) and to bring a copy of the text with you. You will have the chance to work in groups as well as one to one on your speech, learn how to bring the text and your character off the page, find out more about applying to drama schools and what to expect, and of course maximise your chances of a successful audition! You will also get the chance to speak to a Drama School graduate about the audition process, the training and what happens afterwards (finding work, agents, etc).
