STIWT THEATRE, WREXHAM TEAMS UP WITH REVEAL THEATRE COMPANY

Reveal Theatre Company has been awarded funding from ARTS COUNCIL ENGLAND and STAFFORDSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL to produce a new play on bullying entitled STICKS AND STONES at the Stiwt this October.

What happens when you are pushed into something you don’t want to do? What happens when you are on the receiving end of bullying? What happens when the consequences of your actions are pushed to the extremes leading to devastating results? This original piece of theatre explores the serious issue of bullying. An interactive piece of drama which empowers young audiences into looking at decisions, choices, actions and consequences.

In a recent KIDSCAPE survey of 4,000 children, 68% admitted to having been bullied at least once in their school environment.
Ten children a year commit suicide as a result of bullying.

“With these shocking statistics, Reveal aims to reduce the effects of bullying by creating a more honest and open approach to this often taboo subject. Receiving Arts Council funding is thrilling for a small organisation such as ourselves, and has enabled us to expand our programme of work, including producing this exciting and worthwhile tour. We are extremely fortunate that Peter Read, the General Manager of the Stiwt, has allowed us to work in association with the theatre to enable this residency to take place.”
ROBERT MARSDEN, Artistic Director
