Editorial free for all at the Western Mail
|
As you may be aware, the Western Mail is going tabloid in October - Oct 7 to be precise and the buzz word is actually "compact", not tabloid. As a result, Box Office, from Oct 8, will turn from an 8-page supplement to a 16 page one. To that end, we're going to have a page dedicated to people's views. This will be written by industry professionals or people with a critical interest in any form of the arts in Wales. Press officers please note - please bear this in mind for on-going opportunities with your CEOs or industry professionals who work with you.
It will be called Back View and does what it says on the tin - the last page in BO will be given over to people I'd like to write pieces on whatever takes their fancy - or I could well give out ideas and hope people will bite my hand off to tackle whatever subject is in the offing. People, of course, don't know about this change or that I intend to give them free-reign on whatever they want to address. I need help in spreading that word, and would positively encourage people to approach me about writing a piece.
To that end, I was hoping you'd consider doing one or getting someone to contribute, now or in the long term. THis is a free for all, a place provided by me for anyone who can write and has sensible views to get something off their chest, write about their organisation or merely comment on a particular issue.
It would need to be about 1000 words and I would do MINIMUM editing - but I would need to possibly make style changes or cuts to length. I will endeavour, wherever possible, to consult contributors on this. Unfortunately, there won't be any payment for this, as it's meant as an arena/sounding-board for YOU.
This is an on-going thing which needs to be filled with quality thoughts, copy and ideas every week.
