Opera Cocktail are looking for venues for a production of Side by Side by Sondhiem in 2005. This is an Opera Cocktail /Theatr Mwldan co-production which we are looking to sell at £1500. It will have it's first performance in Theatr Mwldan, Cardigan on Saturday 30th April and ideally we would be looking for dates that lead on from there.. This production has a committed, highly professional, well respected and multi-talented cast whose versatility is not to be under-estimated and who have a proven track record. One of the greatest composers of musical theatre, winning a record seven Tony Awards for song writing and a Pulitzer Prize, Stephen Sondheim?s many successful shows include Gypsy, A Funny Thing happened on the Way to the Forum, West Side Story, Sweeney Todd, Follies and Company. He is currently having something of a revival, with two shows running successfully in the West End, and we feel that our production of Side by Side will also succeed in attracting audiences Side by Side by Sondheim features songs from some of Sondheim's biggest hits. It is witty, melodic, sophisticated and funny and its review format is ideally suited to the intimacy of smaller venues. Linked with a narration by Ned Sherrin it is an iridescent tapestry of great show-stopping songs and witty script that runs the gamut of emotions from funny to poignant and is a wonderful evenings entertainment. When musical theatre works it rewards you with an emotional impact unrivalled in any other medium, which is why London theatres play host to so much of it. It is hugely popular. So often quality musical theatre is confined, usually by the huge financial commitment involved in production, to theatres in large urban areas.
