Committee overturn decision to cut funding to Theatr Powys and Powys Dance

Powys County Council’s Committee of Children, Families and Lifelong Learning met on Friday 22 October 2004 and voted to overturn their recommendation made at a meeting on Friday 8 October 2004 to cut all funding to Theatr Powys and Powys Dance.
The Committee was in receipt of a full report produced by Theatr Powys and Powys Dance detailing the services that the companies currently provide in Powys. They were also informed of correspondence received from the Arts Council of Wales stating that they would be forced to withdraw their partnership funding from the companies should this recommendation go ahead. The Committee was informed by the Chair that many letters and statements had been received pledging support and requesting that Powys County Council continue to fund the two companies and maintain the level of arts provision currently provided.
