BBC WRITER’S ‘GIANT’ PLAY FOR THEATR NA N’OG

Theatr na n’Og’s current production, Me, A Giant! is written by successful Welsh playwright Roger Williams. Roger’s television credits include "The Story of Tracy Beaker" (BBC1/CBBC), "Secret Sis" (BBC1/CBBC), "Pobol y Cwm" (BBC Cymru) and the BAFTA nominated "Tales From Pleasure Beach" (BBC2).

Roger, who is 30 years old and lives in Neath and Pembrey, has written Me, A Giant! based on Jack & The Beanstalk, in English and Welsh for Theatr na n’Og and the production will be performed to over 4000 children in schools across Swansea, Neath Port Talbot and Bridgend.

"It has been a long held ambition to work with Theatr na n’Og. Their professionalism and high standards are famous throughout Wales. The company provides high quality plays for schools and I've enjoyed writing for them enormously. 'Me, A Giant' is a play about friendship and difference. A valuable lesson for everyone, not just the 5-7 year olds the play is aimed at,” says Roger.

Roger has also written theatre plays for Made In Wales, the Sherman Theatre Company, and the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, as well as five radio plays for the BBC. Roger's plays have been performed in New Zealand, Australia and the USA.

“Chapter will produce my new play "Mother Tongue" in July this year”

Me, A Giant! will also be performed in Welsh at the Urdd Eisteddfod at the Wales Millennium Centre at the end of May and in English at the Sherman Theatre in Cardiff on Saturday 16th July. To book tickets for the Sherman Theatre please contact the Box Office on 029 20 646900.
