Miss Saigon breaks records at WMC

Wales Millennium Centre today announced that MISS SAIGON had hit its ambitious sales target at the new international centre for the performing arts in Cardiff Bay. There are still some tickets available but to date Wales Millennium Centre has sold 54,200 tickets - £1.6 million in box office receipts.

With a company of over 50 actors and musicians, Cameron Mackintosh's new production of Boublil and Schonberg's legendary MISS SAIGON is the second professional musical at WMC's Donald Gordon Theatre, and one of the largest productions to date to have been staged at Wales Millennium Centre a project supported by Lottery grant from the Millennium Commission and a direct grant from the Welsh Assembly Government.

Judith Isherwood, Wales Millennium Centre Chief Executive commented:

"I'm thrilled to be able to bring MISS SAIGON to Wales Millennium Centre. It is by far the biggest musical to have ever been staged in Wales, and its enduring magic continues to attract and delight audiences around the world. Six months on from opening, we're continuing to build and attract a broad audience for the Centre, and this success coupled with the popularity of this legendary musical has resulted in tremendous ticket sales. 1 would say to anyone who hasn't yet bought a ticket - do so soon or you're likely to be disappointed!"
