CHRISTMAS AT THE WALES MILLENNIUM CENTRE     

Suzie Blake the ‘Wickedest Witch in Wales’ will star in Pele Productions’ ‘must see’ Christmas show THE WIZARD OF OZ

Based on the classic Judy Garland Oscar winning film, all the famous songs and characters will be on parade. Join Dorothy, the Tin Man, Scarecrow, and the Cowardly Lion and enjoy such evergreen hits as We’re Off To See The Wizard, Follow The Yellow Brick Road, and of course the unforgettable Over The Rainbow.

The Wizard of Oz runs from Tuesday 13 December until Saturday 31 December.

Following the current production of the Award wining Thoroughly Modern Millie the next production at the WMC will be:

A pure entertainment concert performance by the great Sir Willard White with songs from Broadway and Folk Songs from Jamaica. Sir Willard will be joined by the WNO Orchestra conducted by Carl Davies. Sunday 21 August.

A newly commissioned oratorio performance, The Most Beautiful Man From The Sea by the Welsh National Opera sung by 500 voices 1 soloist and full orchestra with a newly written libretto by Gwyneth Lewis, Wales’ First National Poet. The music has been composed by Richard Chew.

It will feature the full Orchestra of the WNO, members of the WNO chorus, soloist Iain Patterson and the award winning Tredegar Town Band. The rest of the 500-strong chorus is made up of children and adults drawn from seaport towns and cities across South Wales.

The performance of The Beautiful Man From The Sea will be on Saturday August 27th. The full Welsh National Opera season will continue until October 8th.

A gala evening of Opera and Operetta in aid of the new Teenage Cancer Trust Unit at University Hospital of Wales with Rebecca Evans, Shian Cothi, Donald Maxwell, Dennis O’Neil and many other and the Dunvant and London Welsh Male Voice Choirs
