The Sherman Sends Merlin Back to School!

The Sherman Theatre are launching their next family Christmas show, Merlin and the Cave of Dreams by sending a young apprentice Merlin back to school on 27-30 September.

The Sherman are touring to 25 schools across South Wales (and even one in Hereford!) and the young apprentice Merlin will be telling tales – but for all the right reasons! Merlin will be introducing the children to the themes of the play, and giving them an assembly to remember, with humour and imagination. They are also planning an Adopt-an-Actor scheme where schools can exchange emails with one of the actors from Merlin and the Cave of Dreams and get to meet them when they come for a performance. In addition, The Sherman are also running a competition for schools to design the cover of the programme for the show.

The Sherman’s Marketing Manager, Haleh Ahmadian, said: “We are always trying to find new ways of providing more for schools and strengthening links with them. We have been overwhelmed by demand for a story-telling assembly and hope to expand the programme for next year. We’re also providing a complete Education Pack, as a teachers’ resource, which covers all areas of the Key Stage 2 curriculum and which has been compiled by a qualified teacher.”

Over 100 schools have already booked tickets for Merlin and the Cave of Dreams and The Sherman continues to receive excellent feedback from teachers who appreciate The Sherman’s unique approach to entertainment for children.

Haleh continued: “At The Sherman we take fun seriously We invest all our shows with high quality actor-musicians, staging, lighting and sound. But there’s also something else about a Sherman Theatre Company production which sets it apart. Our shows have a real heart and soul and provide food for thought. They have the ability to teach us all something and help us to better understand the world in which we live, whilst being incredibly good fun. It’s no surprise teachers return year after year.”

Many performances are already sold out but there is still some availability for certain shows. Tickets are priced at only £7 for schools, with 1 free ticket with every 20 purchased, and can be reserved with The Sherman’s Box Office on 029 2064 6900.
