The Arts and the Arts Council of Wales are at a crossroads. The general arts communuity despairs at a public body which has failed in its task to articulate a coherent strategy and vision for culture in Wales Fifteen MPs have signed an early day motion deploring thje Arts Councils actions. The professional theate communuty has expressed deep concerns over the implications for audiences across Wales of the recently announced Drama strategy. National strategies should be developed through local and national partnerships. We call on the full Council to postpone implementation of the Drama strategy.
