Wales Tour For Acclaimed Canadian Dance Outfit

Wales Tour For Acclaimed Canadian Dance Outfit Wales welcomes one of the most acclaimed contemporary dance companies in the world when Montreal Danse perform De Julia Á Émile, 1949 at The Riverfront in Newport on Tuesday 14 February at 7.30pm and Theatr Brycheiniog in Brecon on Thursday 16 February at 7.45pm.

De Julia Á Émile, 1949 is a sixty-minute tour de force featuring seven dancers, one actress and a soundtrack comprising JS Bach, Sydney Bechet, Jean-Pierre Côté and Alain Gorauger amongst others. These two dates will be the company’s only performances in the UK!

Fresh, audacious and exciting, Montréal Danse is devoted to the creation of vibrant works with an international roster of choreographers. The company creates programmes that play with concepts, visions, structures and vocabularies in its pursuit to capture the imagination of our times.

Continually developing its reputation for taking risks, Montreal Danse has become a centre for research and creation, seeking out rising stars and established choreographers and asking them and the company's dancers to delve into the unknown.

Montréal Danse has created and produced nearly forty works with almost as many choreographers since its inception in 1986. The company has collaborated with numerous Canadian artists as well as choreographers from France, Belgium, the United States, Germany, Japan and Korea.

De Julia Á Émile, 1949 tours Wales in February 2006. Seats cost from £10.00 to £12.50 with additional discounts for under 16’s. Tickets for the Newport performance on Tuesday 14 February are available from The Riverfront box office on 01633 656757. Brecon bookers should ring Theatr Brycheiniog’s ticket hotline on 01874 611622 to reserve their seats for Thursday 16 February at 7.45pm.
