BBC Cymru Wales Masters by Research Scholarship in Digital Storytelling/Citizen Media |
One postgraduate bursary is available for students wishing to register for a Masters by Research degree, beginning in September 2006. The BBC Cymru Wales supported Masters by Research in Digital Storytelling/Citizen Media marks the beginning of an exciting new collaboration between the George Ewart Evans Centre for Storytelling at the University of Glamorgan and BBC Cymru Wales. This studentship may be of interest to recent graduates in Drama, Media, Community Arts or other related disciplines or to people working in storytelling, broadcast media or digital media. The MRes will be practice-based and focussed on the development of Digital Storytelling within the context of the BBC’s award-winning Capture Wales/Cipolwgar Gymru initiative. It is envisaged that the research will influence the next generation of Digital Storytelling production. The work will have a particular emphasis on finding new forms of digital storytelling suitable for use by non-professional storytellers to make stories for publication across a range of platforms including radio, television and the web. The successful candidate will be based at the George Ewart Evans Centre for Storytelling within the Cardiff School of Creative and Cultural Industries at the University of Glamorgan and will complete a significant residency with BBC Cymru Wales in Cardiff. The supervisory team will be made up of members of staff from the University of Glamorgan with mentoring and other support from BBC Cymru Wales. The bursary is for one year full time or two years part time. It consists of a tax free maintenance grant of £10,000 and payment of all fees. You will be expected to: Have a minimum 2:1 degree in relevant discipline or substantial equivalent professional experience To have the potential to engage in original research leading towards a MRes to be completed within the allocated time. Be well versed in current multimedia software applications Have experience working on community projects Have a knowledge of and/or interest in storytelling Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills Be able to work independently Have knowledge of the Creative and Cultural Sector in Wales Have successfully completed an undergraduate/post-graduate course in research methodology or to have significant professional research experience For further details and an application form or informal inquiries contact: Emily Underwood, George Ewart Evans Centre for Storytelling, T?
