The Sherman Theatre are currently on the search for budding actors to form a fresh and exciting acting company Sherman Nation 06-07. Auditions will be held for the company who will perform once a month, presenting new writing in The Sherman’s regular ScriptSlam and Unzipped evenings. Education, Youth and Participation Manager Dinos Aristidou says: “We’re looking for fresh, new talent to be part of this year’s Sherman Nation. Here at The Sherman we’re committed to encouraging and developing new talent – Sherman Nation provides emerging actors with the opportunity to expand on their experience and showcase their talent.” Sherman Nation perform excerpts of new writing from new, emerging writers at the monthly ScriptSlam events which are regularly sold out. These events also offer the opportunity to showcase work to people such as BBC Radio Wales’ Senior Radio Drama Producer Kate McCall, and Drama Critic David Adams who judged this year’s final. Chris Lambert, 25 from Penarth, was a member of Sherman Nation 05-06 and comments: "It is important for any actor to experience working with lots of different material and to try out a range of roles. With Sherman Nation we had a wonderful opportunity to do this, performing an exciting range of new writing every month in front of paying audiences. It is a great place for young performers to practise their craft and, as it gets more established, this scheme will surely go from strength to strength." Auditions for Sherman Nation will be held on Monday 2 October at 6pm. Applicants must be aged 18 and above (no upper age limit) and previous experience or training is essential.
