Described as one of most complex operas of it’s time Tristan and Isolade is a Ben Hur of a spectacle, an epic masterpiece that never fails to enchant audiences around the world. An in-depth and intelligent opera draped in passion and beauty, the WNO’s production of Wagner’s classic has been described by critics as “superior in every respect”. Still sparkling from his exceptional performance in last years celebrated Mazepa, Robert Hayward sings alongside the unique and wonderful Annalena Persson, last seen in Cardiff singing Senta in The Flying Dutchman. One of a sudden wave of new sopranos from Sweden, Persson is an inimitable character. In a recent interview with The Observer she described her pre-show preparation as pumping herself up to The Rolling Stones and Bruce Springsteen. With Mark Wigglesworth conducting his first Tristan and Isolade, no audience member will fail to be enthralled by this passionate production. Tristan and Isolade kicks off its 7 city tour at the Wales Millennium Centre this Saturday, 30th September and again on Saturday 7th October. Tickets are available on 08700 40 2000 and from the WMC website www.wmc.org.uk |
