Disney’s ‘High School Musical’ is coming to South Wales and young performers from across the region are being invited to audition to take part. The smash hit TV movie has recently been adapted for the stage and has taken America by storm. Now South Wales based StageDaze Theatre Company and Wroxton Productions are among the first companies to produce the show in the UK. The stage show follows the antics of East High’s most popular students as they fall in love and secretly try to audition for the high school musical. Featuring all of the hit songs from the movie as well as two new numbers written especially for the stage, this production is being performed on tour in the Park and Dare Theatre, Treorchy and Theatr Brycheiniog, Brecon. StageDaze Artistic Director, Nick Mills, says, “We are extremely excited to be one of the first companies in the UK to perform this show. Ask any child at the moment if they have heard of High School Musical and the answer will be a resounding ‘yes’. It has managed to capture the imaginations of school children across the nation and we are delighted to be able to involve young performers from the Vale in this high energy production.” Auditions are taking place at the Wales Millennium Centre on Sunday 14th January for performers with a playing age of 14 – 19 years old.
