GYPT STAGE AYCKBOURN MUSIC DRAMA

An epic of musical fun and thrills for all the family will be staged next week – Thursday 18 to Saturday 20 January - at the Borough Theatre, Abergavenny.

ORVIN, Champion of Champions by Alan Ayckbourn, is brought to the stage by Gwent Young People’s Theatre - celebrating 50 years of drama with this musical tale of accidental heroism.

The chorus of gods set out to relate the tale of the Great Ulmar, legendary warrior and champion of Sollistis.

Their story suffers a major hitch when Orvin, Ulmar’s hopeless squire, oversleeps on the eve of battle.

What follows proves a challenge even to the gods themselves as they vainly attempt to re-write history with only the help of Orvin, the unlikeliest, most reluctant of last-minute replace champions.

Gwent Young People’s Theatre (GYPT) has a long tradition of consistently high standards for theatre activities and productions under the direction of professional theatre practitioners. The company won acclaim for recent productions including Lark Rise, Sweeney Todd the Demon Barber of Fleet Street, and Gilgamesh.

You can see ORVIN at the Borough Theatre, Abergavenny on Thursday, Friday, Saturday, 18, 19 and 20 January, 7.30pm with a matinee performance on Friday 19th at 1.30pm.

The Saturday evening performance will be signed.

Tickets £7 and £5 concs. Box Office 01873 850805.
