YOUNG HOMELESS SET FOR ‘BIG BOTHA’
|
Talented young homeless people from Bridgend are set to prove their flair for design through taking part in an innovative new arts project inspired by the hit TV programme ‘Big Brother’.
The youngsters, all of whom are supported by ‘Yellow Wales’ an organisation which provides accommodation and training to help homeless young people, have been working alongside professional designers from the Creative Industries Training Scheme to create set designs for the ‘Big Botha’ initiative, which will culminate in a live multi-media performance aimed at highlighting the issues faced by young homeless people today.
“We are really pleased with the quality of the work produced by the young people and this is a great opportunity for them to learn new skills and to gain experience in the creative industries,” said Guy O’Donnal, Creative Industries Training Scheme co-ordinator, Arts and Culture Services, Bridgend County Borough Council.
The young people have also created a series of digital stories based on their experiences of homelessness which together with their ‘Big Brother’ inspired ‘diary room’ video clips will also be used in the live performance.
In addition to this, the youngsters are also set to act in the live performance of ‘Big Botha’ which will take place on Friday 2nd February at Pyle Life Centre at 7pm.
The project is a partnership between Bridgend County Borough Council’s Arts and Culture Service’s Creative Industries Training Scheme and ‘Yellow Wales’.
