Danny Hoch at St Donats

Danny Hoch at St Donats Theatre, performance, spoken word, social commentary – whatever you call it, the work of
Danny Hoch is a solo tour-de-force.

As a film and theatre actor, playwright, director, writer and founder of New York’s Hip-Hop Theatre Festival, Danny Hoch has developed a huge following in the USA, and now increasing attention from critics and fans in the UK. As the only UK performance this year, Danny has been invited by St Donats Arts Centre to take south Wales on his world tour of Hip-Hop culture, politics and aesthetics with pieces from his highly acclaimed play, Jails, Hospitals & Hip-Hop and his new play, Till The Break of Dawn.

Danny Hoch is to be reckoned with. He has won two OBIEs and a Sundance Writers and Tennessee Williams Fellowship. His plays have toured to 50 USA cities and 15 countries and he has starred in the massively popular comedy series, Seinfeld and appeared on the David Letterman Show. His films include Black Hawk Down and American Splendour, and his writings have appeared in Harper’s, New York Times and The Village Voice.

Through his eyes and ears, New York City’s rich traditions come alive as Brooklyn Polish, Bronx Dominican Spanish, Queen’s Trinidadian English, Jamaican patois and Hip-Hop all get flipped and flexed centre stage.

Jails, Hospitals & Hip-Hop by Danny Hoch will be performed on Friday 23 March at 8.30pm. Tickets, which cost £12, £10 £6 (for under 18 years) by contacting the Box Office on 01446 799100.
