Beginning this summer, Carmarthenshire Theatres are launching a campaign to get audiences involved with a varied programme of workshops taking place at Llanelli’s Theatr Elli, Carmarthen’s Lyric and Ammanford Miners’ Theatre - and with workshops for all ages and abilities, there really is something for everyone! Getting into full swing in August, Our Move It! scheme to encourage active teens runs over three Fridays at 1pm from August 10, with special hip hop / street dance workshops. The class, covering all styles of hip hop including body popping and locking, waving, plus freestyle, will be directed by the Groundswell Dance Company’s Amanda Tomlinson and hits Theatr Elli on August 10, Carmarthen’s Lyric, August 17, with the final workshop taking place at Ammanford Miners’ Theatre, August 24. Tickets are priced £2 or £1 when bought with Hip Hop Pop’s The Battle. The Hip Hop Pop crew will be running their own workshop at Theatr Elli on August 30 to coincide with their musical/street dance extravaganza, The Battle, on the same date. This production, similar in style to E4’s Musicool, follows two crews as they battle it out to see who can bust out the best moves to the music of Missy Elliot, Justin Timberlake and Eminem. Tickets for The Battle are £6, £5 concessions, with a special combined show and Hip Hip Pop workshop ticket £7. With more workshops booked for September and October, there has never been a better time to get down to the theatre!
