Swansea Grand Theatre summer season     

Swansea Grand Theatre summer season Swansea Grand Theatre has lined-up a summer season of entertainment to offer distraction & enlightenment, laughter & tears, sing-out-loud and hear-a-pin-drop drama, musicals, dance, comedy, children’s shows and singing! We hope you will join us here at south West Wales’ No1 live entertainment venue where the Grand continues to be the live cultural heart of the city with a stage for everything.

Keeping the kids entertained should be no problem as the Chuckle Brothers present their brand new show Indiana Chuckles and The Kingdom of the Mythical Sulk, on 10th May and Thomas and Friends make tracks towards the stage during half term week on 27th & 28th May. Hot on the heels of an outstanding appearance at the Royal Variety Show, Little Howard and the Magic Pencil of Death, is hoping to ‘draw a crowd’ on 24th June while the Sir Harry Secombe Trust retell the tale of the Ugly Duckling in the award winning musical HONK! 3rd – 5th July

TV phenomenon, Lazy Town Live! has already had extra performances added as Sportacus, Stephanie and super-villain, Robbie Rotten bring action and energy to energise and inspire your own little super heroes 9th & 10th July

Fancy a laugh? Comedy doesn’t come much better with never a dull moment as Paul Merton’s Impro Chums is here on 6th May followed by Phoenix Nights’ Dave Spikey giving an inspired performance on 7th May.

Ricky Tomlinson’s (Jim Royal, Brookside’s Bobby Grant and many more lovable roles) brings his Laughter Show on 19th May where he’s joined by Pauline Daniels, Duncan Norvelle and Tony Barton. As a result of a mis-spent youth, Charles Ross’ childhood was spent in a galaxy far, far away! But now he brings the excellent One-Man Star Wars Trilogy to the Grand for one performance only on 21st July

If music be ‘the food of love’ then we have the ‘All that you can eat buffet’ available in the coming months! ‘Think Floyd’ recreate experience, atmosphere and musical excellence on 8th May. We’re off to Vegas to celebrate the life and music of the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll on 9th May with Elvis – Viva Las Vegas Live. The Sensational 60s Experience brings together The Tremeloes, The Mersybeats and The Dreamers all on one stage on 30th May

One Night of Queen, 18th June is never enough! Two hours of Freddy’s finest with Gary Mullen and then we’re back to Vegas as the hit West End show The Rat Pack creates the coolest party in town 9th – 11th June. We can then say ‘Thank You for the Music’, 21st June as Abba Magic and Bee Gees Magic take an unforgettable magical musical ride, before international singing star, Lee Bradley, dedicates a night to the legendary Luciano Pavarotti on 23rd June in the show ‘The Spirit of Pavarotti’

Catch a wave as The UK Beach Boys ride into the theatre on 7th July and then we go Rockin on Heaven’s Door, 11th July in the company of Orbison, Holly, Cochran, the Big Bopper and Presley and then a complete mood change as Morriston Phoenix Choir, along with special guest Mike Doyle, appear on 12th July. Legendary cockney duo, Chas and Dave are gonna ‘Gertcha’ on 26th August just before we start ‘Jive Talkin’ to the Bee Gees Story on 29th Aug

Dance is always but a step away from the Grand! Swansea Ballet Russe present their brand new production, Fireworks at the Ballet, 18th May followed on 12th June by the popular and dynamically talented, Image of Dance, directed by Margaret Barbieri. This will be followed by the divine, Simply Ballroom, a sensational Ballroom Dance spectacular, 16th June and then onto the heart of the townships of Zimbabwe with Onke Ose, 17th June

Musical Theatres’ every facet is covered as the Grand welcomes back after a gap of fifteen years, Andrew Lloyd Webbers’s most romantic musical, Aspects of Love 13th – 17th May. Grand favourite, Peter Karrie, pays a fleeting visit on 29th May, while Swansea Amateur’s pay tribute to some legendary leading ladies with Those Musical Gals on 31st May.

Gorseinon College’s BTEC Performing Arts students present their version of the hit musical Oklahoma! 6th & 7th June

The WestEnders is no ordinary tribute show, featuring top West End singers and musicians who will take you on a musical journey through their favourite West End hits, 19th June. Following last year’s amazing success, Swansea Girls returns to the Grand by popular request 26 – 28th June.

The students from highly acclaimed, Class Act Theatre School launch their 10 year celebrations with the Gala concert, Celebration! 17th – 19th July


Frank Vickery returns with the outrageous comedy drama Roots and Wings from 20th – 24th May. Swansea’s newest University, (Swansea Metropolitan) Final Year Performing Arts students are back to present their Showcase on 2nd & 3rd June featuring a well-established play and an exciting piece of physical theatre.

The Summer Repertory Season is back bringing five great plays with great star names!

Great Variety Entertainment is also on offer in The Afternoon Show - 29th May, when Chris Needs of BBC Radio fame takes to the stage offering a welcome distraction with music, dance and unexpected guests!

Richard Digance presents his unique blend of comedy and music on 13th June, Alex Frith hosts The Best is Yet To Come on 20th June and the extraordinary Diane Lazarus is back by popular demand for an unforgettable evening of psychic interaction and mediumship 18th August. Bless ‘em All offers two hours of great fun and nostalgia in the company of Stan Stennett, Johnny Dallas, Shelli Dawn, Peter Lewis and special guest Johnny Tudor in a wartime nostalgia show 27th August.

X-Files Improv with Dean Haglund. Having played computer geek Langly, for nine seasons in cult sci-fi series, The X-files, Haglund improvises a new X-Files episode based on audience suggestions, 17th May 12+

The Graduate, a cult novel, a classic film, a quintessential hit of the 60s and now brought vividly to life in this Welsh stage premiere production, 8th – 10th May

Talking Pants! Stand-up comedy for kids (and their keepers), 30th May. Ian Billings author and Chucklevision writer, offers a top-notch, toe-tapping, mind bending, buttock-clenching kids comedy 7+

Antigone, Gorseinon College presents the timeless and enduring story of Sophocles’ eternal myth of enmity and revenge against love and reconciliation. 9th & 10th June
