COMEDY PLAY WITH A STING IN THE TAIL London Classic Theatre, who delighted audiences last year with their production of Abigail’s Party, make a welcome return to the Coliseum Theatre, Aberdare on Thursday 16 October at 7.30pm with Humble Boy, the award-winning comedy with a sting in the tail.

A wry, witty portrait of middle class England, the play is a comedy about broken vows, failed hopes and the joys of bee keeping.

All is not well in the Humble hive. Thirty-five year old Felix is a Cambridge astro-physicist in search of a unified field theory. Following the sudden death of his father, Felix returns to his middle England home and his difficult and demanding mother, where he soon realises that his search for unity must include his own chaotic home life.

Humble Boy is an achingly funny look at life, love, lost dreams and loneliness. From the dysfunctional and long-suffering neighbour Mercy to Rosie (with whom Felix has had a brief fling), the play is peopled with characters who are at times hideously familiar to an audience. Their relationships and conversations are spiced with wit and vitriol in equal measure and whilst Felix waits for his ‘Eureka moment’, the domestic world disintegrates around him.

Written by Charlotte Jones and directed by Michael Cabot, this intelligent and funny play won the Critic’s Circle Award and the People’s Choice Award for Best New Play in 2002.

Tickets are £9.00, concessions £7.00 and available now from the Coliseum Box Office on 01685 881188.
