The latest theatre, dance and performance news

Hand in Hand

Hand in Hand Theatr Powys return to the Wyeside with Hand in Hand, the latest community touring production.

Following on from the success of Morgiana’s Dance and Angel, Hand in Hand is the third in a series of beautiful plays by Chris Cooper.

Hand in Hand is set in the present; moving from the coalfields, backyards and schoolyards of Morgiana’s Dance and Angel to the lonely hilltops of mid Wales. The story is about a young girl, Carys (aged 10_), who really wants to make friends. Carys meets a woman who lives nearby called Deryn. Deryn is 63 years old. She is in retreat living in a stone built house above the village. Deryn’s door is locked but Carys comes knocking and demands to be friends. Carys knows the house has a secret. It’s a secret that can help them both.

The writing is on the wall and the voices of the past are still insistent. Past, present and future collide with humour, poignancy and power in Hand in Hand.

‘For all who value community and know that we have to make friends.’
Suitable for everyone over six.

Hand in Hand will be at Wyeside in Builth Wells on Saturday 24th January at 7.30pm.
