Childhood: A Visual Diary

Childhood: A Visual Diary Pontardawe Arts Centre is delighted to announce a new project we are hosting in partnership with Theatr Ffynnon this Spring. The project will encourage and support participants to tell their own “real life stories” using moving image and sound. The theme for this visual diary will be childhood: a selection of memories set out as short stories based upon the participants’ own life experiences.

Participants will be involved in the various disciplines the project will cover, including acting, directing, camera work, location, sound and editing. The result will be a semi-documentary film, which will be screened in Pontardawe Arts Centre in May 2009.

The project will consist of 12 weeks of workshops on Monday mornings lead by by Theatr Ffynnon’s Artistic Director Chris Durnall together with a filmmaker experienced in the creation of digital stories who will provide all necessary equipment for the ongoing recording of the process. Participants do not need any previous experience in digital storytelling, but we will be looking for a commitment for the full duration of the project.

There are 10 places on the project and in order to give equal opportunities to everyone who would like to be involved, we invite anyone who is interested to complete a simple application form, which is available from Tracy Evans, Project Officer, Pontardawe Arts Centre on 07866 700709 or email t.evans2@npt.gov.uk. The closing date for applications is January 26th 2009. Successful applicants will be notified by January 28th.

So if you would like to share your story in images, sound and words, and have it told on the “big screen” we would be very glad to hear from you!
