Stones in his Pockets The multi award winning hit West End comedy Stones in his Pockets in its RECORD BREAKING 10 YEAR ANNIVERSARY TOUR is coming to The Riverfront, Newport on Weds 29th & Thurs 30th April &

Theatr Brycheiniog, Brecon on Friday 7th May 2009

STONES IN HIS POCKETS is a theatrical phenomenon which has played to packed houses in London's West End for five years, a stint on Broadway as well as several international tours. This simple irresistible comedy has also picked-up just about every major award that the industry has to offer - including two Laurence Olivier Awards, an Evening Standard Theatre Award, a New York Outer Critics Circle Award together with three nominations for Tony Awards.

Marie Jones was inspired to write STONES IN HIS POCKETS after her often hilarious experiences as working as a film extra in Ireland. Way before Ricky Gervais explored the subject in his TV series, Marie was creating great comedy out of the lives of two ordinary-ish Irish fellows - Jake and Charlie - working as extra's on a big Hollywood film. Set in a village in County Kerry where many Hollywood movies had been shot (including most famously THE QUIET MAN starring John Wayne and Maureen O'Hara), STONES IN HIS POCKETS poignantly explores the aspirations of these young men together with the inevitable clash of cultures between the local population and the incoming actors and crew.

The actors - DAVID CAVES and JACK REYNOLDS - play 15 different roles, effortlessly slipping from one character to another including the extras, the spoilt American star Caroline who is struggling with her Irish accent, the film crew plus various colourful locals including Old Mickey who is locally famous for being the only surviving extra from The Quiet Man.

Universally adored by critics and audiences, STONES IN HIS POCKETS gives audiences the opportunity to see the very best of ingenious, hilarious and triumphant theatre.
