Sgript Explosure 4 - thursday's events

Two events today are worth looking out for, either as audience or participant, during Sgript Cymru’s regular development forum Sgript Xplosure! this month.

Firstly, Phillip Mackenzie begins a two day workshop in Platform One at 10.00am for all sorts of theatre-makers (not just writers) by taking as his starting point “Anything But The Play…” Phillip has been involved with innovative theatre for many years through his directorship of his own company Man Act and his site-specific work across Europe. Looking at ways in which factors like space, body and technology can work with and without text in performance, Phillip’s aim is to enhance our awareness of the possibilities that are available and move beyond naturalistic form as a starting point. There are still some places available in the workshop, so contact the company if you would like to be involved.

Second, Sgript Cymru presents a reading of “Skipping for Toffee” by Miriam Llywelyn. Set across four seasons in North Wales, the play delicately explores the complex relationship between Ifan Wyn, a manual worker in the graveyard of the local chapel, and Sioned, a young woman with special needs. The play asks questions about the right to sexual freedom of the young girl and the duty of responsibility in the older man. Is their relationship based on need or exploitation? Directed by experienced writer/director David Britton, the reading features Dorien Thomas, Kate Jarman and Erica Eirian and takes place in the Chapter Studio at 8.00pm.

Sgript Xplosure! is accessible to anyone who becomes a subscriber to the mailing list at a cost of £5. This allows you free entry to any of the events for a year.
