BAND STAGES BENEFIT IN SUPPORT OF GWENT THEATRE Popular South Wales band The Jiveoholics will stage a benefit concert in support of Gwent Theatre later this month (Friday 24 September).
Soon after learning the news of the Arts Council’s decision to withdraw funding to the theatre company, the band was on the phone to volunteer an evening gig at the Melville Theatre in the Drama Centre, Abergavenny.

It will follow their appearances at Talgarth Festival, Jazz Mini Fest in Bristol and Abergavenny Food Festival.

The Jiveoholics is the premier jive and party band for the region playing Swing, Rock and Roll and Boogie Woogie.

Formed in 2006, the band appears regularly in festivals and dances throughout the UK. Their debut EP has also been featured in radio and television broadcasts.

Guitarist Johnny K says: “We would like to raise awareness of the predicament that has put Gwent Theatre in such an untenable position and raise a good amount of cash!

“We are playing on September 18th in the Lower Brewery Yard for the Food Festival from 2.30 – 4.30 which will give people who haven’t seen us before an idea of our music.

“People need to know about the Arts Council’s cuts and how it will affect Gwent Theatre.”
The Jiveoholics will perform at the Drama Centre in Penypound, Abergavenny,on Friday, 24th September, bar opens 7.30 for 8pm start. Tickets £8 and £6 from Borough Theatre, Abergavenny, 01873 850805, Abergavenny Music and the Melville on the night.
