GWENT YOUNG PEOPLE’S THEATRE present THE ODYSSEY at ABERGAVENNY CASTLE

GWENT YOUNG PEOPLE’S THEATRE present THE ODYSSEY at ABERGAVENNY CASTLE Ancient heroes and the whims of the gods all get a slightly off-kilter spin in the witty and colourful adaptation of The Odyssey in Simon Startin’s dramatisation staged by Gwent Young People’s Theatre at Abergavenny Castle.

This highly accessible production of Homer’s epic offers humour, horror, monsters, Greek heroes and of course the Gods in whose hands we are but puppets - mere playthings for their entertainment.

Homer himself is our guide as we witness the adventures of our hero, Odysseus, as he journeys home to his long suffering wife Penelope whose patience is tested to the limit.
Originally commissioned by London’s Bubble Theatre in 2009, this funny, clever adaptation is both entertaining and enlightening.
Bring a picnic, warm/waterproof clothing and something to sit on and enjoy an exciting and lively performance in the beautiful grounds of Abergavenny Castle.

Gwent Young People’s Theatre enjoys a reputation for highly professional productions.
Their staging of Gormenghast earlier in the year was breathtaking and they set alight the legend of King Agamemnon in their last outdoor summer production.

The company gives opportunities to young people to experience a variety of theatre activities and productions under the direction of professional theatre practitioners. The youth theatre has a reputation for consistently high standards and also won acclaim for their recent production of Anthony Burgess’ A Clockwork Orange.

Tickets are from the Borough Theatre Box Office, Abergavenny, 01873 850805.

Thursday 28 & Fri 29 July at 7pm and Sat July 30 at 2.30pm (Signed Performance)
