Germans go for Burton... The stage- play, 'Playing Burton', now in its twentieth year of performances internationally, is to be translated into German, for touring throughout
Germany, Austria and Switzerland over the next five years, beginning in 2012

Contracts have been agreed with Eva Giesel of Litag Theaterverlag in Munich, who first saw the show at Edinburgh.

The German company has previously worked with Alan Ayckborne, Alan Bennet, Steven Poliakoff and other leading British writers. Translation by Dorothea Renckhoff is under way and German actor, Hartmut Nolte. will play
the role of Richard Burton.

The filmed adaptation of the show, shot on location by Spinning Head Films of Cardiff, starring Josh Richards and directed by Wyndham Price,is poised to hit the big screens some time in 2012.

It says much for stature of Richard Burton that, twenty-seven years after his death, he still commands hypnotic public interest as the subject of drama, throughout the world.
