Jac a’r Goeden Ffa (Jack and the Beanstalk)

Jac a’r Goeden Ffa (Jack and the Beanstalk) Cwmni Martyn Geraint, in a co-production with Rhondda Cynon Taf Theatres, have just hit the road with their brand new pantomime, Jac a’r Goeden Ffa (Jack and the Beanstalk). Following the success of ‘Lamp Hudol’ (Aladdin) last year, this magical show is sure to entertain people from 3 to 103.

During the performance, the audience will help Jack to overcome countless challenges and to get out of impossible situations in the Land of the Giant, so he can marry the new Squire’s daughter. Martyn Geraint is one of Wales’ best-loved children’s’ entertainers and the show will be full of fun, with plenty of brand new music to enjoy.

The cast includes Carys John as Jac, Martyn Geraint as Jim, Jack’s brother, Lisa Marged as Anna, the Squire’s daughter, Meilyr Siôn as the Squire and Dion Davies as Dame Winifred Plop, Jack and Jim’s mother. The show is written by Martyn Geraint and directed by Angharad Lee.

The reaction to last year’s tour from the audience was excellent. Sian Elin, from Harlech, said,

“A fantastic show as usual for both children and adults! Everyone’s enjoyed themselves – Christmas has arrived!”

Martyn Geraint is looking forward to the tour and hoping for good weather,

“The response to the panto last year was fabulous and I hope we get the same support this year. We were very lucky to be able to perform in spite of all the snow – though we lost some of our audience on our opening night in Pontypridd and also on a couple of days in Caernarfon and Pwllheli! Then I had a car accident on black ice before the performance in Newport! But, “the show must go on”, and thanks to the cast, the crew and the lively audience, it was a good show, too! This year we’re trying to go back to the roots of the tale of ‘Jack and the Beanstalk and to create some ‘twists’ in the plot to bring something fresh to an old, old story.”

The pantomime is performed in Welsh and is suitable for Welsh learners.
