Opening night for Butterfly Kiss

Opening night for Butterfly Kiss The senior members of Gwent Young People’s Theatre (GYPT) present a premier performance of Butterfly Kiss, at the Borough Theatre, Abergavenny on Thursday 2nd, Friday 3rd and Saturday 4th February at 7:30pm. The experimental production is written by international award-winning playwright Charles Way, and explores the nightly dreams of young people.

The writer has created a mysterious but revealing piece of theatre that reflects the hopes and fears of the rising generation. Charles Way explains: Our dreams are often wildly fantastical, but they are nearly all composed of elements derived from our own experience. It was this thought that lead me to wonder about the dreams of teenagers. What might they reveal about the concerns of the dreamers? Consequently a number of ‘dream’ workshops with the youth theatre provided the material for the play.

Tickets for Butterfly Kiss are £8 (£6 concessions) and available from the Borough Theatre, box office tel: 01873 850 805. The play is suitable for adults and children aged 11 years + (contains some strong language).

Gwent Young People’s Theatre provides opportunities for young people to participate in a range of theatre activities under the direction of professional actors. GYPT operates an 'open door' policy in the belief that all young people should have the opportunity to participate.
