Arts Council of Wales appoints a new Creative Producer for Dance Arts Council of Wales is delighted to announce the appointment of Carole Blade as the new Creative Producer for Dance. Her appointment follows part of the Arts Council’s Investment Review decisions when Council agreed to initiate a new three- year initiative – a Creative Producer for Dance.

The principal task for the Creative Producer is to encourage and manage the creation and production of new dance activity, and to support artists and companies to develop their capability in whatever areas are appropriate to their stage of development.

The programme of activity that Carole is proposing will be delivered in partnership with Chapter, Cardiff, where the project will also be based, and a wide range of other partners across different parts of Wales and beyond.

Carole has worked in the dance industry for more than three decades, initially as a dance artist and later as the Co-ordinator of Welsh Independent Dance. The Creative Producer role brings together her creative and management skills alongside her extensive knowledge of the sector.

Carole Blade commented: “I am thrilled to take the reins of this Arts Council of Wales initiative entitled Coreo Cymru. I have a dynamic and diverse programme planned for the next three years which aims to connect with audiences by offering a mix of inspiring ways to engage with the programme and new, accessible ways of presenting dance.”

The first elements of Coreo Cymru’s programme will begin in spring 2012 and includes new partnerships being forged between organisations and dance practitioners, new touring opportunities and site specific projects which will be taken out into the community. Highlights include an Immersive Dance Dome that will house panoramic free viewings of short dance films and an interactive children’s exhibition.

Andy Eagle, Director of Chapter said: “ We’re delighted to be working in partnership with Carole and are looking forward to working closely with her to achieve the ambitious aims of this project. It’s a great step forward for dance in Wales.”
