Electrifying New Drama Staged at Abergavenny
|
An electrifying new drama - which attracted huge plaudits at the Edinburgh Fringe and at is Wales’ preview - comes to the Melville theatre Abergavenny on Friday 4 May.
Fragments of Ash, written and directed by Terry Victor, is staged by the Notional Theatre at the beginning of a national tour.
This spine-tingling and intense drama, is an exploration of an army wife and mother’s anguish as Eleanor relives the joys and struggles of her life.
Her story is paired with that of Rashida, an Afghan woman, whose narrative is entirely in dance.
The two threads interweave, by turns intimate and cinematic, as text blends with dance and physical theatre. With music composed by Gareth Wyn Griffiths, this is an ambitious, emotional piece of theatre that stimulates you to think without trying to take sides.
Wales Theatre critic Michael Kelligan wrote that its excellence and beauty were very strong and it was described as powerfully acted and brilliantly realised at the Edinburgh Fringe..
Fragments of Ash is at 7.30pm, Friday 4 May at the Melville Theatre in The Drama Centre, Penypound, Abergavenny NP7 5UD. Tickets £8 and £6 from Borough Theatre Box Office 01873 850805.
