Gwent Young People’s Theatre present A Midsummer Night’s Dream |
This July, come and enjoy a new production of Shakespeare's glorious comedy A Midsummer Night's Dream in the perfect setting of Abergavenny Castle’s beautiful grounds. On Thursday 26 and Friday 27 July at 7pm and on Saturday 28 July at 2.30pm (signed performance), Gwent Young People’s Theatre’s production is a rollercoaster ride of high energy and emotions. Full of humour, magic and fairies, A Midsummer Night's Dream remains a firm favourite among theatergoers.Rich in colourful costumes, visual imagery and some of Shakespeare’s most beautiful poetry, this production is sure to bring a smile to young and old alike. Four young lovers take to the woods where they encounter an argument between the Fairy King and Queen. A sprinkling of magic dust creates comic consequences, particularly when a troupe of traveling players, including the unfortunate Bottom, stumbles into the mix. “The talented members of Gwent Young People’s Theatre set alight the legend in this breathtaking production” South Wales Argus (on The Golden Masque of Agamemnon 2010) The cast and crew of Gwent Young People’s Theatre is holding their hopes out for beautiful sunny weather, so bring a picnic, but warm/waterproof clothing is also advisable. There will be limited seating available, so it’s a good idea to bring a camping chair or cushion to sit on. Tickets cost £8/ £6 concessions and are available from the Borough Theatre Box Office 01873 850805, and at the Castle before performances if available. Interested in getting involved? Gwent Young People’s Theatre is based at the Melvile Theatre in Abergavenny. We provide opportunities for young people aged 10 – 20 years in a variety of theatre activities and productions under the direction of professional theatre practitioners. The youth theatre has a reputation for consistently high standards.
