SATELLITE LIVE! COMES TO WYESIDE
Starting this month, Builth Wells’ dynamic Wyeside Arts Centre moves into a whole new era with the coming of SATELLITE LIVE! In a major step forward, the magic of newly-installed state-of-the-art digital and satellite technology will beam live performances from famous international theatre, ballet and opera companies - as they happen - direct to mid-Wales’ premier local screen!!

From 11 October, Wyeside joins the select band of Welsh venues where audiences can enjoy the major international stars and huge casts of shows from the Royal National Theatre, the Royal Ballet, the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden and even the New York Metropolitan Opera!

The first season opens with a new comedy direct from the South Bank’s National Theatre starring Julie Walters, and later NT shows include Simon Russell Beale as Shakespeare’s Timon of Athens. Starting in October too, the Royal Opera House will send Wyeside audiences a fabulous trio of popular winter shows - Swan Lake, The Nutcracker, and Puccini’s tragic La Bohème.

And from early December, the New York Metropolitan Opera House joins in the party, with a programme including spectacular shows like Verdi’s Aida, and Berlioz’s Les Troyens, as well as operas by Mozart and Donizetti.

Barbara Stow, Wyeside’s Chair, is delighted. “Over recent months we’ve completely refurbished our atmospheric Market Theatre and relaunched our Gallery. Our cinema too has kept right up with the times, moving its whole operation over to digital, so we can screen today’s releases in both 2D and 3D. And now you can book online for any Wyeside event.”

“But SATELLITE LIVE! is the surely biggest, most radical step forward of all - it takes Wyeside’s service to its audiences up to a whole new level!”
