Itzik Galili’s The Grammar Of Silence is a high energy, personal and moving production. Using confined and open spaces, with a stage punctured by violent shafts of light, Galili creates a dance language that combines into a dramatic and poignant narrative.
Back by popular demand Stephen Petronio’s By Singing Light is a profound dance response to the poetry of Dylan Thomas. The Welsh songs of Mansel Thomas inspired composer Son Lux to create a lyrical, yet power-driven score which effortlessly partners the choreography to make a classic and seminal work for the Company.
Renowned choreographer Christopher Bruce creates a sublimely humorous work in honour of the 2012 Olympics. With witty references to both sporting competition and Jubilee celebrations past and present, it creates a relationship with the art of dance and celebrates the sheer enjoyment of highly physical movement in all its forms.

Watch the dancers of National Dance Company Wales in the creation of our latest production by House Choreographer Eleesha Drennan before it goes on tour in spring 2013.
Following the recent successes of rehearsals with Christopher Bruce, Itzik Galili and Ohad Naharin the company continues to open up the creative process to intrigued and interested audiences as the dancers rehearse this new work.

Blaze 2012

Blaze is an annual dance gala where National Dance Company Wales invites our Associates and other high quality youth dance groups – which this year includes Monmouthshire Youth Dance Company, Bridgend Youth Dance Company and Expressions Dance Company – to perform at the Dance House.
It gives the dancers an experience of being in a professional dance environment, using world-class facilities, performing two shows in one day and bringing dancers from across the country together to celebrate their talent and commitment.
Noord Nederlandse Dans

Noord Nederlandse Dans, based in Groningen, is the flagship dance company for North Holland. Established in 1997, today the Company consists of 13 dancers - each of a different nationality. The multi-faceted repertoire is toured by these world class dancers on the national and international circuits.
Under the artistic direction of Stephen Shropshire, Noord Nederlandse Dans are visiting National Dance Company Wales’ home, the Dance House, for the first time and presenting two new productions by Shropshire and a duet by Roy Assaf.
Shropshire has created an engaging repertoire of both intellectually and emotionally challenging works. In 2008 he created Sugerwater for NDCWales and this highly successful production earned them the “top 10 dance performances of the year” The Telegraph
The three choreographies are part of Landslide, the performance that Noord Nederlandse Dans is currently touring in The Netherlands.
Noces Open Rehearsals (Angelin Preljocaj)

Watch the dancers of National Dance Company Wales rehearse the re-staging of Angelin Preljocaj’s Noces, first performed by his company in 1989. On 14 December and 11 January rehearsals will be led by Angelin’s assistant Claudia De Smet with 18 January by Angelin.
Continuing our commitment to opening up the Dance House and sharing the creative development with audiences, we welcome you to follow the rehearsal process before we take Noces on tour in spring 2013.
These follow the recent successes of open rehearsals with Christopher Bruce, Ohad Naharin and House Choreographer Eleesha Drennan.
