Revealing What Lies Just Beyond the Body

TaikaBox: Beyond the Body. Touring Wales November 2012
Using a combination of movement, live music and interactive video projection, Cardiff-based company TaikaBox will take the audience on a mystical journey through amazing digital landscapes that lie just beyond the body at The Met, Abertilery on Tuesday 20th November at 7.30pm.
The collaboration between choreographer Tanja Råman and digital artist John Collingswood has produced a variety of work over the last six years, most recently creating the moving performance based on Ebbw Vale’s industrial heritage, Cold Rolling, as part of Wales’ major cultural Olympiad event, Adain Avion. This autumn they are creating their most ambitious project yet for five dancers and two musicians. TaikaBox fuses dynamic choreography and cutting-edge technology to create enthralling dance works.
Beyond the Body is a culmination of extensive research into areas such as; shamanism, subtle energies, mysticism and extra-sensory perception, and unfolds on a white stage amongst the shifting light of two projectors. The dancers’ movement ranges from the meditative to the explosive as they intertwine with the projected images of otherworldly landscapes, mystical symbols and shimmering energy fields all blended live with a hypnotic, multi-layered soundscape by Eyebrow.
The world premiere of Beyond the Body will be performed at Taliesin in Swansea on 8th November, continuing on tour stopping off at The Met, Abertillery on Tuesday 20th November at 7.30pm. Tickets are priced at £8 / £6 concessions.
