Spectacle Touring Communities with Just Like Family by Paul Swift |
Just Like Family was launched last week at Canolfan Rhys Arts and Education Centre and continued its tour to Gartholwg Theatre, Melville Theatre and Maerdy Youth Centre. Betsan Haf Evans, Celf Calon: ‘Just Like Family is an ingenious twist……..highly imaginative…..impressively acted.’ ‘A humorous entertaining production.’ ‘Dickens would approve!’ ‘Just like Family’ is based on Charles Dickens’ classic novel Oliver Twist; Outside Newgate prison the crowds are gathering to see Fagin hang. In an attic room above the city, three of Fagin’s gang are also waiting and watching. Little Alf is only 7, he doesn’t understand why the merry old gentleman who saved him and gave him a home, is about to die. Charley blames Bill Sikes, the brute who murdered Nancy, but Bet says it’s all down to that little villain, Oliver Twist….
