LIVING PICTURES DIRECTORS COURSE 2012/13, IN ASSOCIATION WITH THEATR GENEDLAETHOL CYMRU & SHERMAN CYMRU, FUNDED BY ARTS COUNCIL WALES

Five future theatre directors have begun a new journey to learn directing skills on a specially created course with Living Pictures in association with Theatr Genedlaethol Cymru and Sherman Cymru.

The five, who are Ffion Dafis, Wyn Mason, Ffion Haf, Janet Aethwy & Rhiannon Williams, begun the year long course in September and they will be tutored specifically on directing and developing new work for the theatre, whether that be developing text with an author or experimenting with multi platform work.

Guest tutors on the course, that is being funded by Arts Council Wales, will include

Marc Rees, Sasha Wares and Steve Waters. The course will end with a staging of three new plays written by Meic Povey, Caryl Lewis and Branwen Davies at Sherman Cymru in September 2013 for a week.

Two of the directors will develop new writing with Theatr Genedlaethol Cymru that includes a new play by Siwan Jones.

Elen Bowman, the organiser and tutor of the course said: “This course offers a great platform and opportunity to develop five new, unique voices to the theatre industry in Wales. The chosen group of budding directors come from all walks of life and have a range of experience but they all share a passion for creating new, innovative theatre in Wales.”
