TORCH NOMINATED FOR THREE THEATRE AWARDS
The Torch Theatre is delighted to announce that they have been nominated in three different categories for this year’s inaugural Theatre Critics of Wales Awards.

Welsh actress Helen Griffin has been nominated for Best Female performance in the English Language for her leading role in the critically acclaimed ‘Who’s Afraid of Rachel Roberts?’ which performed to sell-out audiences at the Torch last spring and will play the Edinburgh Fringe Festival later this year.

The co-production between the Torch Theatre, Theatr Mwldan and Mappa Mundi which produced the magical ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’ directed by Peter Doran picked up the other two awards for Best Ensemble and Best Use of Digital Online.

Speaking about the nominations, Peter Doran, Artistic Director commented: ‘I am absolutely delighted that our work has been recognised with three nominations at this year’s Theatre Critics Awards. We’re extremely proud of the work we produce in Pembrokeshire and it is particularly edifying to see our productions achieve national acclaim’.

Organised by the Young Critics Scheme based in Bridgend, the TCWAs will celebrate the successes of theatre in Wales each year, as voted for by the critics.

The winners will be announced during a ceremony at Sherman Cymru in Cardiff on January 26 which will be hosted by broadcaster Nicola Heywood Thomas.
