National Dance Company Wales prepares for an explosive dance experience

This June, an explosive dance experience featuring performances from 40 talented young Welsh dancers and an African ballet group will show at National Dance Company Wales’ Dance House in Cardiff Bay.

Ignite is an exciting new youth development project from South Wales dance development organisation Dance Blast and is at the Dance House on 15th June at 7.30pm. Featuring award-winning African dance group Ballet Nimba alongside Monmouthshire Youth Dance Company and NDCWales’ trainee dancers, the Associates, Ignite is the result of a year-long project.

The Associates will also present Orient, which was choreographed by NDCWales dancer Chris Scott and performed at the Company’s 30th birthday celebrations earlier this year.

Ignite includes a new commission from former NDCWales dancer Wayne Parsons, plus Guinean dance and live music. The project is funded by the Arts Council of Wales and its dancers range from eight to 18 years-old. Ignite has focused on empowering young dancers to select their own choreographer and is unique in Wales.

See Ignite at the Dance House, Wales Millennium Centre, Cardiff Bay on 15th June, 7.30pm. Tickets are £10/£7; call 029 2063 6464 to book
