International support for Welsh drama!

New publication is a notable milestone in the history of the Welsh-language drama.
Mwnci ar dân / Burning Monkey by Sera Moore Williams, which is on WJEC’s GCSE Drama specification, has been published in both Welsh and English in a single volume by the international company, Bloomsbury
WJEC’s Educational Resources department was responsible for editing the Welsh version, working closely with the author. It is the second play by Sera to appear on WJEC specifications. Crash is already available for GCSE Drama and, following the success of that play, it was decided that another drama by Sera would be included in the new specification.
Mari Watkin, a WJEC Editorial Manager said:
"It was a privilege to work with Bloomsbury. This is an innovative project that will hopefully provide enjoyment for WJEC’s GCSE Drama students in Welsh and English. The play is sure to strike a chord with the target audience, in terms of its themes and tone."
"It is an extremely important development for Welsh drama. To our knowledge, this is the first Welsh-language drama to be published by publishers with worldwide offices in London, New York, Sydney and New Delhi."
