TRAVELLING PUPPET SHOW PREPARES FOR SIX-WEEK TOUR OF RURAL WALES
|
National Theatre Wales and travelling puppet company Heather & Ivan Morison’s Mr Clevver Puppet Company are preparing to take the hit puppet show Nuclear Family on tour across rural Wales this summer.
Inspired by a character from the 1980, cult, post-apocalyptic novel Riddley Walker by American Russell Hoban, this charming family show will roll into villages and towns all over the country, starting on Tuesday 6th August, and will be performed - with live music – in unusual locations such as castles, abbeys and forests.
A child learns to become an adult, but an adult struggling to remain afloat within the life he has made for himself. Nuclear Family examines some fundamental human truths, whilst also poking fun at governmental and religious power structures.
The two-man show first toured remote settlements across Tasmania in 2009-2012. As it did then, this summer the show’s old-fashioned truck and trailer will arrive and open up to reveal a stage and benches, and exquisite wooden puppets will perform to families right on their doorstep.
The tour begins on Tuesday 6th August in Cilgerran Castle, Pembrokeshire, before continuing around Wales for six weeks.
