MORDAITH ANHYGOEL MADOG!
|
A fantastic opportunity for children and families to learn about one of Wales’ most important tales in a large scale theatrical extravaganza!
According to the tale, Prince Madog from North Wales was the first person to discover America...300 years before Columbus! In this large scale theatre production Artistic Director Jeremy Turner shares this all important story focusing on the challenges faced along the long and hard journey aboard the ship.
“The story is told through the eyes of a young child who discovers himself aboard the ship with Prince Madog and his crazy crew. It’s very rare that audiences in Wales can enjoy such a large scale theatre production in the Welsh language and I can’t wait to see their reaction”
The production is part of a multi-platform production which includes a website; www.madogaradgoch.org where families can learn about the ‘backstage’ process of creating this large scale production, watch video interviews about life on the sea in Wales today, get ideas about activities to do at home and a weekly competition! www.criwmadog.org is a blog which allows the audience to meet the characters before the performance itself.
The cast is currently in rehearsals at Canolfan Arad Goch Aberystwyth and amongst them is one of Pembrokeshire’s finest young actors, Endaf Eynon Davies, who lives on the family farm in Efailwen and former pupil form Ysgol Beca.
“I’m playing one of the crew members aboard the ship. I’ve been fortunate to perform in many productions by Arad Goch but this one is huge and has a massive boat for us to play on! I’m thoroughly excited about the project and I love the fact that it’s such a physical show – perfect for a farmer like me!”
Look out for Madog’s crew as they’ll be appearing in several locations over the next few weeks! If you are at the National Eisteddfod in Bala come and meet us at the Cwtsh Cymraeg where we’ll be hosting daily workshops and activities at 1 and 3 o clock.
