Opportunity for all ages to collaborate at Intergenerational Summer School at Sherman Theatre

Following last year’s successful Intergenerational Summer School and the subsequent performances of Still Here Phil Mackenzie (Sherman Cymru’s Head of Creative Learning) and Iwan Brioc reunite to lead this year’s 10 day intensive Intergenerational Summer School which is open to anyone aged 15 and over.

The Sherman Theatre has been working with a range of groups and individuals over the last 12 months, running workshops and creating theatre performances that see a mix of ages work together from 15 to 87! Most recently the Sherman held an Intergenerational Theatre Day which saw over 40 older and younger people produce theatre pieces together.

As part of the Summer course, participants young and older will learn techniques to create and devise an immersive theatre experience based on the themes and stories of Sherman Cymru’s Christmas production Arabian Nights. The final performances will take place within a specially created maze on the Sherman’s main stage.

Over the 10 day course the group will work towards producing a final performance which will take place on Sherman’s main theatre stage from 31 July to 2 August at 7.30pm.

The Intergenerational Summer School is £150. Concessions are £75 and are available for those on benefits or unemployed. There are also limited free places for those aged 65 and over, which will be supported by the Big Lottery. Places are limited and must be booked in advanced by 12 July through Sherman Theatre’s Creative Learning Team.
